My Guitar Heroes

Murder!

We were invited to the Wilcox home to participate in one of those out-of-the-box murder mystery stories....I believe it's called "How to Host a Murder." We were assigned names and roles that came with suggested costume ideas. For instance, Sherri was assigned the part of an ambitious young reporter with inappropriate ties to mob bosses, while I was to be "Socks". Golfer by day, club owner and illegal gambling ring operator by night. There were several other characters important to the story set in prohibition era New York. It was an absolute riot! The only problem was that it was nearly impossible to concentrate on the story because I couldn't stop staring (and laughing) at Rob! He had just gotten off work, hadn't slept in over 24 hours, had a scruffy beard, and a bad wig. He looked like the sleaziest used car salesman ever. Emily and Katie came as "Flappers", drunken floozies that somehow had personal ties to the victim of the story, "Hal Capone." Bryan was a crooked police detective, Justin was a professional baseball player whose career was being controlled by the mob, and Kelli was....THE MURDERER! The whole story unfolds over dinner; you have your appetizer, then read act one. Then the salad...act two. So on and so on until the story unfolds and you find out who your killer is over dessert. Highlight for me was still Rob's wig. I have nightmares of that dead animal sprawled over his forehead.
